I just laughed it off, like when you have a crazy adrenaline rush from nearly dying and laugh for some reason. Thank god she didn’t hit me, it would be a total tragedy if her daughter and grandkids had to live with the fact that she accidentally paralyzed or killed their husband/dad. She smashed the dock so hard all the workers came out to see wtf happened. I was on my phone and didn’t even see the car coming, just heard loud engine reving and instinctually jumped out of the way, like barely! I was directly behind her car leaning against the loading dock. She panicked and slammed the gas instead of the brake. She was about 20 ft from the loading dock and thought the car was in park (it was still in reverse), she let off the brake to look in her vanity mirror, and felt the car start to move. My mother in law very nearly pancaked me into a concrete loading dock little over a month ago. It helped him get out more and feel safer. I think he realized something was wrong because he readily agreed. using the excuse that I needed the practice. After seeing how bad and unpredictable his driving was, I offered to drive him around. He liked hanging around with me, so I volunteered to go fishing, rummage saling, etc. My grandpa (husband of above mentioned) had been slowly getting confused or forgetting things (onset of alzheimers. When I would ride with her, she was hellishly slow, but safe. The guy was okay, but it scared her enough to get retested on her own. This is because she was stopped to turn left into her neighborhood, a car went by and she turned. My grandmother used to plan out her route to the grocery store to only take right turns. But if I were in that same position, I think my guilt over possibly hurting/killing someone would override my desire to still drive. I feel bad for those who have had a lifetime of driving, but suddenly don't have the clarity or ability to continue to do so.

Except for people who love to road rage and those who love driving but won't bother to take themselves off for driving at a track or something it will be better for 99% of people. Imagine a city without traffic noise or pollution, also a lot of the traffic jams caused by people doing stupid shit will be gone, accidents that block up roads will be reduced massively. There are a so many ways it will make shit better, quicker and let us stop wasting so much time travelling, or just finding somewhere to park. Sleep longer in the morning and take 2 hours more at home after work.Īlso that self driving car rather than you struggling to find a car parking spot for ages anywhere you go, you can send it home, or to find a place it books itself to sit, or it's a uber and just goes picks up someone else and you get a different car when you go back home. You've just cut 2 hours of wasted time in your day. You leave at 4pm work an hour in the car and get home at 5pm. You get to work and jump out at the front door and resume working at say 10am when you get there. You are going to work that day because you need to meet some people are do something specific. Imagine leaving for work at an office at 9am, sitting with your laptop out conferenced in and talking with people, coding, doing whatever.
